What Does A Cracked or Broken Windscreen Look Like?
Written on Tuesday, February 7th, 2006 by auckland windscreens staff
This is a picture of a cracked, or fractured windscreen.
This particular crack was approximately 400 mm in length, and on the drivers side of the vehicle.
Most windscreens will start to crack when the windscreen gets a small stone chip.
These stone chips often start out very small, but extreme sunlight, and heat can cause the crack to develop rapidly.
It is for this reason that we suggest our clients attend to minor windscreen damage as soon as it occurs, to prevent a crack like the above from deveolping.
Most windscreen chips can be repaired quickly and inexpensively.
Repairing a stone chip in the windscreen will restore the windscreen to its full strength.
Windscreens play a vital role in driver safety, accounting for up to 40% of the structural rigidity in the modern car.
