This 2002 Volkswagen Passat has just had a replacement windscreen via our Auckland mobile service. This is a relatively simple process, taking our glazier only about 35-45 minutes.
Whilst the actual replacement process is relatively short, the vehicle must sit still for a minimum of four hours before being driven. This is for two reasons:
The windscreen is bonded to the vehicles body with a special urethane adhesive. This adhesive must se before the vehicle moves in order to ensure a 100% structural bond, and no leaks!
The vehicle is equipped with a passengers airbag. Passenger airbags if ever deployed, usually deflect from he front windscreen. The Urethane adhesive must be fully set to ensure correct operation of passengers airbag.
